The check-in process is a crucial step when renting a vehicle on Tarlen. It allows you, as the primary renter, to document the rental’s condition and provide proof of the vehicle’s state at the start of your trip.
All trip management must be done through the Tarlen mobile app. If you booked on the web, be sure to download the app and log in to your account before your trip begins.
Starting your trip:
The “Check-In” button becomes active 2 hours before your trip starts and remains active 2 hours after your trip has started. You can upload additional check-in photos during this window, even after completing your initial check-in.
Important: If you fail to check in within 2 hours of your trip start time, your protection plan will not be activated.
At the pickup location, your host will ask for your valid driver’s license. This license must belong to you (the primary renter that made the booking).
Your host will not hand over the keys if:
You are not the primary renter who made the booking.
You fail to present a valid driver's license.
They suspect your driver's license has been altered
Upon receiving the keys, make sure the car is in good condition, clean, and safe to drive. If the car fails to meet these standards, do not start your trip. Instead, contact trip support at [email protected] to report the issue.
Check in
Step 1
Start your check-in by taking a selfie with your driver's license clearly visible in the picture frame.
Step 2
Take pictures of the car’s interior and exterior to document its condition and upload it.
Step 3
Input the odometer number and fuel gauge reading, and upload a picture of the dashboard to show these details. This information helps us track your fuel use and total mileage driven during the trip.
Submit
Your check-in information will be received by the Tarlen team and saved to the cloud. This check-in information can be requested when there's a dispute between you and your host.
After checking in, you can add more trip pictures within 2hours of the trip starting.
To add more trip pictures;
Navigate to the “Trips” tab in your account.
Select the trip you want to view details for.
Scroll down to Trip pictures and tap on "Add photos".
Upload the additional pictures and hit "Save".
