To book a car on Tarlen, simply sign up using your email, Google account, or Apple account. Make sure you meet the age requirement and complete the quick verification process to get started.
Age requirement
Tarlen requires all renters to be at least 21 years old to book a car.
Renter's between the ages of 21-25 can only book economy or standard cars and will incur a young driver's fee of R75/day.
Renters over 25 years can book premium or luxury cars in addition to economy or standard options, with no young driver's fee.
License requirements
Tarlen accepts both local and international driver's license, provided they're valid, unaltered, and not expired.
Tarlen also accepts temporary permits, as long as they include your photo and remain valid for the entire duration of your trip.
Always bring your license to the pickup location as your host will request to see your license when you pickup your rental.
Verification: Before your first booking
To ensure a safe and trustworthy experience, all renters must complete an identity verification process before their first booking;
Phone Verification: Secure your account by verifying your phone number.
Document Submission: You'll be asked to submit a selfie, a valid driver’s license, and your personal details as they appear on your license.
The process is quick and typically takes less than 5 minutes. However, verification may be rejected if:
The information provided is insufficient or unverifiable.

Booking your trip
Once you're approved;
Browse and Select a Car: Explore available cars and view details such as photos, specifications, pricing, features, and host information.
Pick Your Trip Dates and Times: When you find the perfect choice for your trip, choose your trip dates and times.
Select Your Pickup Option: Choose between standard pickup or delivery (delivery might include an additional fee).
Proceed to Checkout: Tap "Continue" to move to the checkout page.
Add Extra: Choose any optional extras offered by the host to enhance your trip.
Enter Payment Details: Enter your payment details. Tarlen will check that your card is valid by reserving R1. Once the card is confirmed as valid, the R1 will be returned to your account.
Complete your reservation: Tap "Book this trip" to complete your payment.
Payments are charged only after the trip is confirmed.
