Security deposit explained
A deposit may be required when you book a car on Tarlen. This deposit serves as a surety and will be automatically refunded 72 hours after your trip ends, provided:
There are no outstanding reimbursement requests (e.g., for extra mileage, fuel, or late returns).
No damage or policy violations have been reported by the Host.
If any issues arise, the deposit will be held until the matter is resolved.
Key Information About Your Deposit
Held by Tarlen: Tarlen securely holds your deposit; your Host does not handle it and is typically unaware of the amount you’ve paid.
Refund Timeline: Deposits are refunded 72 hours after your trip ends unless your Host submits a reimbursement claim for:
Extra mileage
Fuel top-up
Late returns
Any other policy violations
Reducing Your Deposit
In some cases, you can reduce your deposit by upgrading to Super Cover insurance:
Benefits: Lower deposit requirement and reduced liability in case of an insurable event.
Optional: Super Cover is not mandatory to book a trip but provides added protection and convenience.
