To enjoy the ease and convenience of Tarlen carshare, the following actions are strictly prohibited:

Prohibited activities

  1. Driving without a valid driver’s license.

  2. Allowing unauthorized parties to tow the vehicle.

  3. Towing anything with a vehicle booked on Tarlen.

  4. Permitting unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle.

  5. Racing or excessive speeding with the vehicle.

  6. Driving a manual vehicle without adequate knowledge or training.

  7. Off-roading or driving on undeveloped roads.

  8. Using the vehicle for purposes other than private use.

  9. Engaging in e-hailing services (e.g., Uber, Bolt).

  10. Operating as a taxi service.

  11. Leaving South African borders without proper approval.

  12. Using the vehicle outside the booking period or without a booking.

  13. Smoking in the vehicle.

  14. Booking or driving if you are under 21.

  15. Using improper fuel in the vehicle.

  16. Negligent or reckless use of the vehicle.

  17. Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medications.

  18. Using the vehicle for criminal or illegal activities.

  19. Misrepresenting facts about the Host or the vehicle.

  20. Altering the body or interior of the vehicle.

  21. Leaving the vehicle unattended on the roadside during a breakdown.

  22. Using the vehicle to intentionally cause harm.

  23. Violating traffic laws.

Consequences of Violations

If you violate any of these rules, Tarlen reserves the right to:

  • Void your protection cover, holding you liable for the full cost of damages.

  • Charge you a violation fee.

  • Suspend or permanently remove you from the platform.
